Raccoon Dog (Nyctereutes procyonoides)

Raccoon dogs are omnivorous and eat a variety of foods, including rodents, berries, fish, birds, reptiles, insects, fruit, and seeds. They are nocturnal specialists and are often seen after dusk to protect their young from predators. Raccoon dogs are great at climbing trees to escape predators such as wolves, birds of prey, foxes, wild cats, and humans.

Raccoon dogs are highly intelligent and easily trained. They are native to the forests of eastern Siberia, northern China, North Vietnam, Korea, and Japan.

There are two extant species of raccoon dogs: the common raccoon dog and the Japanese raccoon dog. The common raccoon dog is also called the Chinese or Asian raccoon dog.
