Visitors to North American forests are frequently rewarded with by the sight of this charming creature (Tamias striatus) scurrying around in its search for food. If they are very lucky they will see one having a sand bath, rolling from side to side on the dry ground.

The eastern chipmunk spends much of its time foraging for food in trees, displaying the typical chipmunk habit of collecting dry food in cheek pouches to store underground.
