The dingo (Canis dingo) is probably descended from the Asian wolf, introduced to Australia by seafarers and traders around 2000 BC. Because of inbreeding with domestic dogs there are few 'pure' dingoes left. The dingo eats small mammals, lizards, birds, carrion and kangaroo. It hunts alone but a pack will form to tackle larger prey. Infamously, dingoes have been implicated in the taking and killing of babies and small children in some public areas.
